Revit is Autodesk BIM design and documentation software for architecture, engineering and construction disciplines.
Model and exchange
The project is organised through parametric objects, views, sheets and information. For visualisation, an export can provide massing, categories and materials when coordinates, phases, options and visible elements are clearly defined.
The file should be prepared for its intended use: a dedicated 3D view, controlled links, temporary elements removed and material conventions understood. An exchange test reduces surprises.
Limits
Revit is not synonymous with a final render, and a native file is not always required. Versions need to be compatible; visualisation simplifications should remain separate from the authoritative design model.
Practical questions
Is the native file required?
Not always. An agreed IFC, FBX or other export may suffice depending on the information and updates required.
What should be specified?
Version, coordinates, phase, design option, links, included categories and expected materials.
